A viral AI video of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt fighting has triggered copyright concerns and warnings from Hollywood insiders about AI’s potential to disrupt the film industry.
Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt were digitally depicted in a hyper-realistic AI video that has ignited debate across Hollywood. The 15-second clip, created using Seedance 2.0 owned by ByteDance, prompted Motion Picture Association CEO Charles Rivkin to say the firm engaged in “unauthorized use of U.S. copyrighted works on a massive scale” and should “immediately cease its infringing activity.”
Screenwriter Rhett Reese warned, “It’s likely over for us,” adding, “Hollywood is about to be revolutionized/decimated.” While acknowledging AI’s rapid progress, he said, “I am not at all excited about AI encroaching into creative endeavors… I’m terrified,” citing fears of widespread job losses as tools become more advanced.
