Britain’s former prince Andrew has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office amid widening UK investigations linked to newly released Jeffrey Epstein files.
Britain’s former prince Andrew was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office, as police investigations tied to newly released Jeffrey Epstein files intensified.
Thames Valley Police said, “we have today (19/2) arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office,” without naming the suspect. UK media reported police vehicles arriving at the Sandringham estate, where Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, resides.
The arrest follows revelations that Andrew allegedly shared potentially confidential documents with Epstein during his tenure as a UK trade envoy. In a 2010 email seen by AFP, he appeared to send reports from official visits in Asia.
Andrew has denied wrongdoing. Buckingham Palace said it was “ready to support” police inquiries, while multiple UK forces confirmed they are assessing related allegations emerging from US justice department files.
