In a live fact-checking session on Tuesday, CNN analyst Daniel Dale meticulously dissected what he described as a “litany of lies” from President Donald Trump during a lengthy and rambling press conference marking the one-year anniversary of his second term’s inauguration. Dale systematically challenged a series of Trump’s claims, stating, “There are just so many. I’m struggling to keep track of it,” and proceeded to label assertions about “$18 trillion in investment,” a “600% reduction in prescription drug prices,” and ending “eight unknowable wars” as “fictional figures.”
He further corrected economic misinformation, noting that while Trump claimed “many of the groceries have come way down,” official data shows grocery prices have overall increased, with a significant recent jump. Dale concluded that the speech was an unfocused series of inaccuracies, explaining, “And he just veered into so many inaccurate tangents,” citing debunked claims about wildfires and public media, and summarizing the event as “just claim after claim… a litany of lies, many of them debunked months or years ago by myself and others.”
