Lord Mandelson resigns from Labour Party over sustained Jeffrey Epstein links

Lord Mandelson has officially resigned his membership in the Labour Party, stating he no longer wishes to “cause further embarrassment” following the latest release of U.S. Department of Justice files detailing his historical ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The former cabinet minister, who was previously removed from his post as U.S. Ambassador due to the association, was linked in newly unsealed documents to three separate $25,000 payments from Epstein totaling $75,000 between 2003 and 2004. In a formal letter to Labour’s general secretary, Mandelson expressed his remorse, writing, “I have been further linked this weekend to the understandable furore surrounding Jeffrey Epstein and I feel regretful and sorry about this.”
