Man arrested for allegedly posing as FBI agent to free Luigi Mangione

Mark Anderson was apprehended after allegedly using a fake identity and a pizza cutter in a failed attempt to free high-profile murder suspect Luigi Mangione from federal custody.

A Minnesota man, Mark Anderson, was arrested Wednesday after allegedly posing as an FBI agent to secure the release of suspected murderer Luigi Mangione. Anderson arrived at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn claiming to possess a court order. When asked for credentials, he reportedly presented a Minnesota driver’s license and claimed to have weapons in his bag.

Federal officials searched Anderson’s backpack and discovered a barbecue fork and a circular steel blade resembling a pizza cutter. While he allegedly stated that he was an FBI agent with paperwork “signed by a judge,” authorities found only legal claims against the Justice Department. Anderson is currently facing charges for falsely pretending to be a United States government officer.
