Mass text in Iran promotes Trump assassination campaign, $25m pledged

An automated messaging campaign in Iran has reportedly gathered 290,000 pledges totaling $25 million to reward the potential assassination of President Trump following a religious decree.

Mobile users across Iran reportedly received mass text messages on Wednesday promoting an “international campaign” to fund a reward for the assassination of U.S. President Donald Trump. According to reports from Iran International and Didban Iran, the campaign claims to have secured approximately 290,000 supporters who have pledged a total of $25 million following a “jihad fatwa” issued in response to the recent killing of Iran’s supreme leader.

The messages directed recipients to a website, inaccessible from outside the country, and the domestic platform Rubika to confirm their participation, though organizers clarified that the multi-million dollar sum consists of non-collected pledges rather than immediate cash. While the Iranian government has previously distanced itself from similar religious decrees, the website explicitly states its goal is to “fund a reward for the assassin of US President Donald Trump” amidst a period of intense regional conflict and heightened rhetoric between Washington and Tehran.
