NASA’s Artemis II: Humans set to journey back to the Moon after 50 years

NASA’s Artemis II mission will orbit the Moon with four astronauts, marking humanity’s first lunar journey in 50 years and testing technology for future Moon landings.

NASA is set to send humans back toward the Moon for the first time in over 50 years with its Artemis II mission, scheduled for launch on 6 February. The mission will carry four astronauts, including three Americans and one Canadian, on a journey around the Moon at speeds of up to 25,000 mph before returning to Earth.

Artemis II will not land on the Moon but will test NASA’s new Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System rocket, providing crucial data for future lunar missions. “This is a massive milestone for NASA and the Artemis programme because this is going to be the first time that a crew of humans will see the far side of the Moon,” said John Pernet-Fisher.
