Russian state television and Kremlin allies have escalated rhetoric against NATO, suggesting Moscow could support President Trump in a bid to take control of Greenland while ridiculing Britain and attacking senior UK officials, as Russia’s war in Ukraine enters its fourth year, according to reports.
Prominent Kremlin-backed broadcaster Vladimir Solovyov claimed Russia would be ready to “help Trump free Greenland from this alien influence,” adding, “We have entered extremely turbulent times.
Trump is preparing for a major war,” while also mocking the UK’s military capabilities and warning that British troops could be stopped en route.
The comments came as Russian officials lashed out at UK Defence Secretary John Healey and as state media reportedly avoided mentioning that the invasion of Ukraine has now surpassed the length of the Soviet Union’s Second World War campaign, amid mounting embarrassment over limited territorial gains and losses estimated at more than one million killed or wounded.
