Amid renewed discussions of the U.S. purchasing Greenland, historical records reveal that the 1917 Treaty of the Danish West Indies—which transferred the U.S. Virgin Islands to American control for $25 million—included the island later infamously owned by Jeffrey Epstein, with the attorney-general of the U.S. Virgin Islands describing it as “the perfect hideaway and haven for trafficking young women and underage girls for sexual servitude, child abuse and sexual assault.”
