U.S. intelligence suggests China may be actively supporting Iran in war

U.S. intelligence suggests China may be increasing support to Iran in the ongoing conflict, though Beijing denies providing any military assistance.

U.S. intelligence agencies have indicated that China may be taking a more active role in the Iran conflict, including a possible shipment of shoulder-fired missiles to Iran. Officials cautioned the intelligence is not definitive and noted there is no evidence the weapons have been used against American or Israeli forces.

Authorities also believe China has allowed companies to supply Iran with materials such as chemicals, fuel, and components that could support military production. The development signals a potential shift in Beijing’s posture, as internal discussions reportedly consider expanding support, though China has traditionally avoided direct military involvement.

China strongly denied the allegations, with embassy spokesman Liu Pengyu stating, “China has never provided weapons to any party in the conflict; the information in question is untrue.” He added that China “consistently fulfills its international obligations” and urged the U.S. to avoid “baseless allegations” and “sensationalism.”
