Mark Zuckerberg will testify in a closely watched trial that could determine whether Meta can be held liable for alleged harms linked to youth use of its platforms.
Mark Zuckerberg is set to testify Wednesday in a landmark social media addiction trial in Los Angeles, where families allege Meta’s platforms harmed young users. Joann Bogard, whose son died in 2019, said after a previous apology, “I thought… it’s going to change.” Instead, she added, “it’s just getting worse.”
Meta has denied the allegations, with a spokesperson stating, “we strongly disagree” and are confident evidence will show “our longstanding commitment to supporting young people.” The case, brought by a now-20-year-old plaintiff, could test liability protections under Section 230 and determine whether tech firms have done enough to safeguard teens.
