Russia ready to evacuate staff from Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant if needed

Russia signals readiness to evacuate staff from Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant amid regional tensions.

Russia said it is prepared to evacuate personnel from Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant if the situation demands, TASS reported. Alexei Likhachev, head of Russia’s state nuclear corporation, stated, “We sincerely hope that the parties to the conflict will uphold their commitments regarding the inviolability of this territory (Bushehr).”

The facility, built and operated with Russian support, employs hundreds of Russians, President Putin said. Likhachev added, “we are keeping our finger on the pulse and, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence, we will be ready to carry out evacuation measures if necessary.” Iran denies pursuing nuclear weapons.
