During the National Prayer Breakfast, President Trump publicly insulted Rep. Thomas Massie, calling him a “moron” and “Rand Paul Jr.” over his habitual opposition to GOP legislation.
President Donald Trump sharply criticized Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) during Thursday’s National Prayer Breakfast, labeling the libertarian-leaning lawmaker a “moron” for his frequent opposition to administration-backed legislation. Trump mocked Massie’s voting record, comparing him to Senator Rand Paul and expressing frustration over the congressman’s consistent refusal to support major Republican bills, including recent tax and spending measures.
“No matter what we do, this moron, no matter what it is,” Trump told the audience. “We’ll get a 100 percent vote, except for this guy named Thomas Massie. There’s something wrong with him. We call him Rand Paul Jr.” The remarks highlight an intensifying primary feud as Trump continues to back Massie’s challenger, retired Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein.
