Trump urged Palm Beach Police to focus on Maxwell, Epstein in 2006

DOJ documents reveal that Trump called Ghislaine Maxwell “evil” in 2006 while Epstein was under investigation, coinciding with calls for her potential clemency to testify fully to Congress.

President Donald Trump, in a 2006 call to then-Palm Beach Police Chief Michael Reiter, criticized his former associate Jeffrey Epstein and called Epstein’s procurer Ghislaine Maxwell “evil,” according to a Department of Justice document released recently. Trump reportedly said, “people in New York knew Epstein was disgusting,” and noted he left Epstein’s presence when teenagers were around. The call came as Maxwell coordinated activities on Epstein’s behalf.

The disclosure emerged hours after Maxwell’s attorney urged Trump to grant her clemency so she could testify “fully and honestly” to Congress. Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison term, refused to answer questions before the House Oversight Committee on Monday, citing her Fifth Amendment rights. Her lawyer stated, “Only she can provide the complete account… the public is entitled to that explanation.”
