Two U.S. Navy vessels collided Wednesday during a replenishment-at-sea operation near South America. The USS Truxtun and USNS Supply made contact while conducting a refueling maneuver, with two sailors sustaining minor injuries, according to reports. Both ships remain seaworthy and continue operations.
U.S. Southern Command confirmed an investigation is underway. “Two people reported minor injuries and are in stable condition, and both ships have reported that they are able to continue sailing safely,” said Col. Emmanuel Ortiz, adding, “The cause of the collision isn’t yet clear.”
