In an exclusive Meet the Press interview filmed Friday at a Wisconsin farm, with hay bales and a John Deere tractor serving as the backdrop, President Donald Trump discussed US strikes on Iran, the latest jobs report and election integrity before tensions flared over California’s June 2 primary election delays.
The conversation took a sharp turn when Trump criticised the state’s slow mail-ballot counting process. Election officials have said the delays are routine, citing signature verification requirements and a June 15 reporting deadline. Trump, however, alleged the process was rigged and lashed out at interviewer Kristen Welker, saying, “They’re crooked. Just like you’re crooked.”
The interview ended after roughly 50 minutes, sparking intense reactions online.
Trump ended an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker mid-conversation in Wisconsin, calling her a liar to her face before walking off.
Trump: “The elections are like a 3rd world country. You’re Crooked…let’s call it quits. I’ve had enough.”
Welker asked him to stay, saying she had traveled to Wisconsin for the sit-down.
Trump: “I’ve sat in the rain with you for an hour! I’ve given you enough time. You ought to straighten out your press. You know what? A country can never be great with a dishonest press. Let’s GO.”
You’re either crooked or you’re stupid… You’re crooked, and Meet the Press is crooked, and so is ABC, CBS, and CNN.
