Venezuelans sour on Trump…. Nothing has improved’…

Venezuelans who initially celebrated Trump’s role in ousting Nicolás Maduro are growing increasingly frustrated as economic conditions remain dire despite the change in leadership.

The euphoria has worn off. The Financial Times reports that Venezuelans are souring on Donald Trump, whose approval rating among Venezuelans plunged from 75 points in March to 47 points in April, according to a Meganálisis survey.

While Trump insists Venezuelans are “dancing in the streets,” many ordinary citizens tell a different story — annual inflation tops 600 per cent, minimum wage barely covers 26 US cents monthly, and feeding a family of five costs an estimated $730 monthly. Beyond freeing roughly 600 political prisoners and allowing public demonstrations, little has materially changed.

About 400 political prisoners remain behind bars, and Venezuelans are still waiting for promised elections, economic relief and clarity on the country’s political transition.
