Khadijah Farrakhan, the First Lady of the Nation of Islam and wife of leader Louis Farrakhan, has died at 90. The Chicago Crusader reports the organisation announced her passing on Saturday, honouring her as a devoted wife, mother and faithful follower of Elijah Muhammad’s teachings.
Born Betsy Ross, she married Louis Farrakhan in 1953 and embraced Islam two years later, standing beside her husband throughout his decades-long leadership of the movement. The couple had nine children together, though two sons died before her.
Funeral arrangements have not been confirmed. The Nation of Islam said details of memorial and Janazah services will be shared at a later date.
