The Trump administration has announced that babies born in the United States from July 2 through December 31, 2026, will receive limited-edition Social Security cards bearing the Freedom 250 logo to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary.
US Babies Born July 2 to Dec. 31 to Receive Limited-Edition “Freedom 250” Social Security Cards
Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano confirmed the move in a statement, saying the cards would go to the “next generation of Americans born during this historic year.” Replacement or duplicate cards ordered within the same period will not carry the special logo, NBC News reports.
The announcement coincides with the nation’s semiquincentennial celebrations, including Washington’s Great American State Fair and a planned Salute to America fireworks event on Saturday. Freedom 250, the Trump administration-created group behind the commemorative programming, describes itself as nonpartisan, though critics have argued it injects partisanship into what should be politically neutral anniversary events.
The Freedom 250 Social Security cards are not the first government documents to carry administration branding this year. In April, the State Department began offering passports featuring an image of President Trump on the inside cover for those ordering through the Washington Passport Agency.
