President Donald Trump paid tribute to the late Sen. Lindsey Graham while sharing an image that also glorified himself as a fictional “Acting President of Venezuela.”
Trump’s Graham Tribute Doubles As Self-Praise
President Donald Trump mourned Sen. Lindsey Graham’s death Saturday night with a flurry of Truth Social posts, ordering flags lowered nationwide and calling him a “true American Patriot,” The Daily Beast reports. Graham, 71, died of an aortic dissection, his office said.
Notably, Trump shared a photo of Graham holding a printed, digitally altered fake Wikipedia page naming Trump “Acting President of Venezuela,” first posted in January following the capture of Nicolás Maduro.
Trump also phoned into CNN’s “State of the Union,” recalling his final call with Graham, who had just returned from Ukraine and seemed “full of vim and vigor.”
The tributes cap a famously rocky relationship, with Graham once branding Trump a “jackass” before the two became close allies and golf partners after 2017.
