UK moves to outlaw Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps and allied groups

The UK government has announced plans to ban Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps along with Russian GRU proxies and an Iran-linked group, with penalties of up to 14 years in prison for supporters.

UK to Ban Iran’s IRGC

The UK government plans to ban and designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a national security threat, according to AFP, as reported by Peoples Gazette.

The proposed law, set for parliament this week, would also target Russia’s GRU proxies and the Islamic Movement of Companions of the Right. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said anyone supporting these groups could face up to 14 years in prison.

The Home Office said the move strengthens the UK’s ability to counter espionage, sabotage and interference. The IRGC has been linked to seven attacks on UK Jewish and Israeli community sites.
