U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that the United States will target Pickaxe Mountain in Iran, a heavily fortified underground site near the Natanz uranium enrichment facility.
Trump made the remarks during an interview on The Hugh Hewitt Show, saying the U.S. had closely monitored the location and intended to “take out” the mountain as part of efforts against Iran’s nuclear programme.
Trump also announced the reinstatement of a U.S. blockade on Iranian shipping and said Washington would control access through the Strait of Hormuz. The comments come amid heightened military tensions between the two countries following recent exchanges of missile and drone attacks. Reuters reported that Trump warned further U.S. strikes would follow, while maintaining that Iran would be unable to mount an effective response.
