South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster has appointed Darline Graham Nordone, sister of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, to serve out her brother’s Senate term through the end of the year.

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster named Darline Graham Nordone, sister of late Sen. Lindsey Graham, to fill her brother’s Senate seat through Jan. 3, CNBC reported.
McMaster announced the pick Monday at a statehouse press conference, reflecting on Graham’s life and service, per the outlet.
“It is such a privilege to get to finish some of his important work,” Graham Nordone said, according to CNBC, vowing to support the president and continue her brother’s efforts for South Carolina.
The appointment came hours after President Trump recommended her on Truth Social, calling it “a fabulous tribute to Lindsey,” CNBC reported. Sen. Tim Scott also backed the pick, the outlet said.
Graham, 71, died Saturday of aortic dissection, per preliminary medical examiner findings cited by CNBC. Graham Nordone is expected to be sworn in Wednesday, CNBC reported, citing Fox News and MS NOW. A special primary is set for Aug. 11, with the winner facing Democrat Annie Andrews in November, according to the outlet.
