Trump demands ICE restart traffic stops despite fatal shootings

President Trump has demanded ICE resume traffic stops despite two fatal shootings in a week, declaring the practice essential to the agency’s crime-fighting efforts.

Trump Orders ICE To Resume Traffic Stops After Two Fatal Shootings

President Donald Trump has demanded ICE resume traffic stops, a day after the agency mostly paused the practice following two fatal shootings within a week, Mediaite reports.

In a Wednesday Truth Social post, Trump praised ICE’s work, linked falling crime rates to the agency’s efforts, and insisted traffic stops remain “one of ICE’s most important” tools. He urged agents to be “judicious, fair and smart” while continuing operations.

The pause followed the fatal shootings of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston on July 7 and Joan Sebastian Guerrero in Maine on July 13, both unintended targets during ICE traffic stops.
