Trump says Netanyahu won’t be arrested in U.S. as New York Mayor weighs options

President Trump has declared that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested if he visits the United States, dismissing New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s comments on possible legal action.

TRUMP SAYS NETANYAHU WON’T BE ARRESTED IN US

Trump made the statement in a social media post, saying Netanyahu would not be detained “in any way, shape, or form” while in the country.

According to Reuters, the debate stems from a 2024 arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court accusing Netanyahu of alleged war crimes during the Gaza conflict. Israel rejects the ICC’s jurisdiction and denies the allegations, while the US is not a member of the court.

Netanyahu is expected to attend the UN General Assembly in New York in September. Mamdani said the city’s legal department is reviewing what the law permits regarding the warrant, while Israeli officials dismissed both the warrant and calls for any arrest.
