Regional mediators have presented Iran with a proposal for a 10-day ceasefire aimed at de-escalating its conflict with the United States and reviving last month’s interim agreement.
MEDIATORS PROPOSE 10-DAY IRAN-US CEASEFIRE
A senior Iranian official disclosed the proposal on Monday, saying it seeks to halt hostilities long enough for both sides to resume negotiations.
According to Reuters, the proposal was conveyed through mediators as diplomatic efforts intensified to prevent further escalation. The official said the temporary truce would provide an opportunity to address key issues that have stalled implementation of the interim deal and restore dialogue between Tehran and Washington.
The proposal has not yet been formally accepted by either side. Discussions remain ongoing as mediators continue efforts to secure agreement on the ceasefire and restart negotiations over the interim accord.
