Heading to the UK? Better check your luggage. The UK government has issued updated guidelines on what travellers can and can’t bring into the country, according to PUNCH Online.
Items you can bring:
Alcohol (Great Britain):
Up to 42 litres of beer
Up to 18 litres of still wine
Up to 4 litres of spirits (above 22% alcohol), OR up to 9 litres of alcoholic drinks up to 22% (sparkling wine, port, sherry, cider)
Tobacco (one or combination):
200 cigarettes
100 cigarillos
50 cigars
250 grams of tobacco
200 sticks for heated tobacco devices
Other goods:
Up to £390 by most transport
Up to £270 by private aircraft/boat
Items you cannot bring:
Controlled drugs
Offensive weapons (e.g. flick knives)
Pepper spray and CS gas
Endangered animal/plant species
Rough diamonds
Indecent or obscene books, magazines, films, DVDs
Meat and dairy from most non-EU countries
Restricted (licence/permit required):
Firearms
Explosives
Ammunition
Certain food products
Certain plants and plant products
Some animal products
CITES-protected goods (exotic leather, animal furs, wooden instruments, protected-species souvenirs)
Certain foods, beauty products, medicines
Travellers under 17 have no duty-free allowance for alcohol or tobacco. Anyone exceeding limits or carrying restricted goods must declare them or risk seizure, fines, or prosecution.
