A Mexican cartel leader has been accused of ordering the murder of beauty influencer Valeria Marquez, who was shot dead during a TikTok livestream after ending her relationship with his son.
Cartel Chief Allegedly Ordered Hitman To Gun Down Son’s Ex-Girlfriend Live On TikTok
Mexican authorities say a senior Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion figure ordered the killing of 23-year-old influencer Valeria Marquez, who was gunned down live on TikTok from her Jalisco beauty salon in May, according to a report by The US Sun.
Ramon Nagel Alvarez Ayala, known as “El R1,” was arrested Thursday in a special forces raid. Federal security secretary Omar Garcia Harfuch said Ayala’s son, Francisco Alvarez, phoned his father to demand the hit after his romance with Marquez ended, having allegedly threatened her before.
A gunman posed as a delivery driver, confirmed Marquez’s identity, then shot her three times as horrified followers watched online. She had eerily hinted moments earlier that someone might be trying to kill her.
Days later, a bouquet of roses with a note reading “Sorry” appeared outside the salon. Both Francisco and the shooter remain at large. Ayala is also accused in the murder of Uruapan mayor Carlos Manzo last year.
