Suspect detained after fire ravages historic Mississippi synagogue

One person has been taken into custody after a fire heavily damaged the Beth Israel Congregation synagogue in Jackson, Mississippi, in what authorities described as arson. No injuries were reported in the early-morning blaze, which destroyed parts of the administrative office and library. Mayor John Horhn said, “Acts of antisemitism, racism, and religious hatred are attacks on Jackson as a whole,” as the FBI joined the investigation.
