Odor forces evacuation at World Economic Forum as attendees begin coughing

The World Economic Forum conference centre in Davos was evacuated on Tuesday evening after reports of a fire nearby left attendees coughing. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, with helicopters overhead and firefighters managing the situation.

Local news outlet LA7 reported that the fire originated at a nearby hotel, prompting authorities to evacuate part of the convention centre as a precaution. The evacuation occurred just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the forum.

By 9:01 pm UK time, the fire had been fully extinguished. The fire brigade confirmed: ā€œThe alarm has been fully contained and the fire has been completely extinguished after evacuating part of the convention centre as a precaution.ā€
