Defense expert cautions Iranian drones could endanger USS Abraham Lincoln strike group

U.S. military assets moving toward the Middle East could face serious danger from Iranian drone swarms, a military drone expert warned, as tensions rise with Tehran. Cameron Chell, CEO of Draganfly, said Iran’s use of low-cost unmanned systems presents a “credible threat” to high-value U.S. naval targets, including the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group.

“Iran’s drone capabilities are worth well into the tens of millions of dollars,” Chell told Fox News Digital. “By pairing low-cost warheads with inexpensive delivery platforms… Iran has developed an effective asymmetric threat.” He added, “If hundreds are launched in a short period of time, some are almost certain to get through.”

A senior U.S. official confirmed the USS Abraham Lincoln has not yet entered CENTCOM’s area of responsibility. “It is close, but technically not in CENTCOM yet,” the source said. President Donald Trump commented, “We have a big flotilla going in that direction… we’re watching them very closely.”
