China executed 11 members of a Myanmar-linked group over murders and a $1 billion scam operation.
China executed 11 people found guilty of killing 14 Chinese citizens and running scam and gambling operations worth over $1 billion, authorities said. The Wenzhou city Intermediate People’s Court announced the executions Thursday, following the rejection of the group’s appeal in November.
The executed included Ming Guoping and Ming Zhenzhen, identified as leaders, alongside key members Zhou Weichang, Wu Hongming, and Luao Jianzhang. Authorities detained the group in November 2023 amid cross-border pressure, as scam operations in Southeast Asia grow under international scrutiny.
