Former CNN anchor Don Lemon has been arrested over his role in a protest that disrupted a church service in St. Paul, Minnesota, according to his lawyer and a Justice Department official. Lemon livestreamed the demonstration earlier this month, protesting President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.
Lemon faces charges including conspiracy to deprive civil rights and violating the FACE Act by allegedly obstructing access to a house of worship. His lawyer, Abbe Lowell, called the arrest an “unprecedented attack on the First Amendment,” while Lemon said he attended as a journalist and did not expect the disruption.
