Djokovic edged Sinner in a late-night five-set thriller to set up an Australian Open final against Alcaraz with history on the line.
Novak Djokovic will face Carlos Alcaraz in the Australian Open final after battling past Jannik Sinner in a gripping five-set semi-final, according to a report from Vanguard News. The 38-year-old Serbian defeated the two-time defending champion 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in a match that ended at 1:32 am in Melbourne.
“It feels surreal, to be honest,” Djokovic said after the four-hour contest. “The level of intensity, and I guess the quality of tennis, was extremely high.” Djokovic, chasing a record 25th Grand Slam title, will meet top seed Alcaraz, who beat Alexander Zverev in the other semi-final.
