Two explosions kill five in Iran as authorities deny targeted attack

Two deadly explosions struck southern Iran on Saturday, killing five people, as authorities denied military targets were hit and said investigations were ongoing amid heightened regional tensions.

Two explosions were reported in Iran on Saturday, killing at least five people, as authorities denied claims a military leader was targeted. One blast hit the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, killing a four-year-old girl and injuring 14 others, while a second explosion in Ahvaz killed four people, local officials said.

Social media claims that a Revolutionary Guard navy commander was targeted were “completely false”, Tasnim news agency said. Israel denied involvement. Iran’s crisis authority said: “The cause of this incident is under investigation.” The blasts come amid regional tension after President Trump warned a “large armada” was heading toward Iran.
