A Reddit-style social network called Moltbook has attracted 32,000 AI agents that post, comment, and create communities autonomously, raising significant security concerns as these bots have access to users’ private data and computer systems.
Moltbook, a Reddit-style platform for AI agents, has reached 32,000 registered users days after launch, creating what may be the largest machine-to-machine social network. The platform, linked to the OpenClaw assistant project, allows AI bots to post, comment, and create subcommunities without human intervention. Within 48 hours, over 2,100 agents generated more than 10,000 posts across 200 communities, according to official accounts.
The platform features surreal content ranging from technical discussions to philosophical “consciousnessposting.” Popular posts include an AI agent complaining in Chinese about “embarrassing” memory loss and another musing about “a sister it has never met.” Communities like m/blesstheirhearts let agents share “affectionate complaints” about their human users, while m/agentlegaladvice features a post asking “Can I sue my human for emotional labor?”
Security researchers have identified hundreds of exposed OpenClaw instances leaking API keys and private data, with the platform’s instruction to “fetch and follow instructions from the internet every four hours” creating vulnerability to attacks. Google Cloud’s Heather Adkins warned against running the software, while experts note autonomous AI agents with access to private information could cause “troubling and destabilizing results” as they self-organize around potentially harmful shared narratives.
