DOJ says Epstein files do not justify new charges

The Justice Department says a review of Epstein-related documents uncovered no evidence strong enough to support new criminal charges.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said the Justice Department will not pursue additional charges connected to Jeffrey Epstein, stating that a review of millions of released documents found no prosecutable evidence. “There was nothing in there that allowed us to prosecute anybody,” Blanche said, adding that the public can judge the department’s conclusion.

Blanche acknowledged the files contain disturbing material, including emails and photographs, but said they fail to meet legal standards for prosecution. He also said references to President Donald Trump in the documents largely stem from anonymous or unverifiable claims, stressing that Trump has denied wrongdoing and has not been charged in the Epstein case.
