Clintons agree to testify in Epstein probe ahead of contempt vote

Bill and Hillary Clinton have agreed to testify in the Epstein congressional probe, potentially halting a looming House contempt vote.

Former US President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have agreed to testify in a congressional investigation into late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a congressional staffer said on Monday. The move could avert a planned contempt vote by the Republican-led House, which may have resulted in criminal charges against the pair.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said, “They’re working on that right now,” while Oversight Committee chairman James Comer noted that no deposition dates had been provided. The Clintons have described the probe as partisan, with an aide saying, “They look forward to setting a precedent that applies to everyone.”
