United States, Ukrainian, and Russian delegations successfully negotiated the release of 314 prisoners during high-level peace talks in the United Arab Emirates.
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced Thursday that Ukraine and Russia have agreed to exchange 314 prisoners following intensive, U.S.-brokered talks in Abu Dhabi. This marks the first significant swap in five months, emerging from what Witkoff described as “detailed and productive” diplomatic efforts. Both nations confirmed the exchange of 157 personnel each, including soldiers and several civilians held since 2022.
“Today, delegations from the United States, Ukraine, and Russia agreed to exchange 314 prisoners the first such exchange in five months,” Witkoff stated on X. “While significant work remains, steps like this demonstrate that sustained diplomatic engagement is delivering tangible results and advancing efforts to end the war in Ukraine.” Further progress is expected as trilateral negotiations continue in the coming weeks.
