Tim Scott slams Obama video shared by Trump as ‘most racist’ act of White House

Republican leaders have condemned a racist video shared by President Trump’s social media account, leading the White House to delete the post and blame a staffer for the error.

Senator Tim Scott and other prominent Republicans issued a sharp rebuke of the White House on Friday after President Trump’s Truth Social account shared a video depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes. Scott, the Senate’s sole Black Republican, described the imagery as “the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House” and called for its immediate removal.

The White House initially dismissed the backlash as “fake outrage,” defending the clip as a “Lion King” themed meme. However, the post was later deleted, with officials claiming a staffer had shared it “erroneously.” Despite the removal, lawmakers including Rep. Mike Lawler and Senator Roger Wicker have maintained that the post was “totally unacceptable” and demanded a formal apology.
