Gunmen in Kaduna killed three and kidnapped a Catholic priest, highlighting persistent insecurity in northern Nigeria.
Gunmen killed three people and abducted Catholic priest Nathaniel Asuwaye along with several others during an early morning attack on his residence in Kauru, Kaduna State. “Security agents exchanged gunfire with the bandits, killed some of them, and unfortunately two soldiers and a police officer lost their lives,” a police spokesperson said.
The attack underscores ongoing insecurity in northern Nigeria, weeks after 166 worshippers were rescued from church kidnappings. Amnesty International condemned the crisis, calling it “increasingly getting out of hand,” while Pope Leo urged authorities to ensure protection for citizens.
