Ghislaine Maxwell offers to clear Trump’s name in exchange for Clemency

Ghislaine Maxwell has offered to clear President Trump’s name in the Epstein scandal if granted clemency, a move that has drawn sharp reactions from US lawmakers.

Ghislaine Maxwell, jailed for 20 years for conspiring with Jeffrey Epstein to abuse minors, has indicated she would clear President Donald Trump of wrongdoing in the Epstein case if granted clemency. Her lawyer, David Oscar Markus, made the claim during Maxwell’s virtual deposition before the House Oversight Committee.

“Ms. Maxwell is prepared to speak fully and honestly if granted clemency by President Trump,” Markus said, adding that “both President Trump and President Clinton are innocent of any wrongdoing.” Lawmakers criticised Maxwell’s decision to plead the Fifth, while Democrats accused her of seeking clemency in exchange for silence.
