The UK will replace physical visa documents with electronic visas for travellers from February 25, 2026.
The United Kingdom will discontinue issuing physical visa documents to travellers requiring entry permits from February 25, 2026. The UK Visas and Immigration announced that visitors will instead receive electronic visas accessible through a UKVI account prior to travel.
“From 25 February 2026 visitors to the UK, who need a visa, will get an eVisa only. Create your UKVI account and view your eVisa, before you travel to the UK,” the statement read. Authorities said eVisas will replace biometric residence permits, cards and passport visa stickers.
