An upstate New York woman delivered a 13-pound baby boy, setting a hospital record and drawing widespread attention.
An upstate New York mother, Terrica, gave birth to a 13-pound baby boy, Shawn Jr., on January 31 at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, marking the largest baby ever delivered at the hospital. The stunned parents had expected a big child but were surprised by his size. “We knew he’d be bigger, but we didn’t expect this,” she said.
The hospital shared a photo of the newborn beside 4-pound Margot, born the same day. “He’s already wearing 3 to 6 month diapers and clothes. It feels like I skipped straight to having a three-month-old,” Terrica added. Officials said the births highlight that “every baby and every birth story is unique.”
