Thousands mourned Ali Khamenei in Tehran as Iran’s Revolutionary Guards vowed fierce retaliation and tensions escalated between Iran, the US and Israel.
Thousands of mourners gathered on Sunday at Enghelab Square in Tehran following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in a massive strike by the United States and Israel. Iranian state television confirmed his death hours after US President Donald Trump described the 86-year-old cleric as “one of the most evil people in history.”
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps pledged “severe, decisive” punishment for Khamenei’s “murderers,” vowing the “most ferocious” operation against Israel and US bases in the Gulf. Trump warned that any retaliation would bring a force “never been seen before,” as explosions were reported in Doha, Dubai and Manama, and sirens sounded in central Israel.
