U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered the immediate retirement of Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George and removed two other senior officers as part of a leadership change in the Army.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has asked Army Chief of Staff Randy George to step down and take immediate retirement, according to sources familiar with the decision. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell confirmed George “will be retiring from his position as the 41st Chief of Staff of the Army effective immediately,” adding the department appreciates his decades of service.
Sources said Hegseth sought leadership aligned with the vision of Donald Trump and the current administration. Two other officers, David Hodne and William Green, were also removed from their roles. Vice Chief of Staff Christopher LaNeve will serve as acting Army chief of staff following the leadership shake-up.
