Turkey has sharply escalated tensions with Israel, with President Erdoğan issuing strong accusations and threats of military action against Prime Minister Netanyahu amid ongoing war crimes allegations.
Tensions between Turkey and Israel intensified after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sharply criticised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, describing him as “blinded by blood and hate.” A Turkish statement also labelled Netanyahu a “Hitler of our time” following indictments against Israeli officials for alleged crimes against humanity.
Speaking after the charges were announced, Erdoğan warned of possible military action, saying: “Had Pakistan not been mediating in the war between the US and Iran, we would have shown Israel its place… Just as we entered Libya and Karabakh, we can enter Israel. There is no reason not to do it.” His remarks mark a sharp escalation in rhetoric between the two regional powers.
Israel responded with counter-accusations, with Netanyahu claiming Erdoğan had “massacred his own Kurdish citizens,” while Defence Minister Israel Katz described the Turkish leader as a “Muslim Brotherhood man.” Turkey’s foreign ministry added that Netanyahu could face arrest and warned, “Failing this, he risks being tried in his own country and is likely to be sentenced to imprisonment.”
