Iran hopes US will ‘test itself on the ground’, IRGC general says

An IRGC commander dared the US to engage Iran on the ground, as Bloomberg reported Iran is cutting oil production and turning to floating storage to survive a tightening American naval blockade.

Iran is striking a defiant tone even as its economy buckles under American pressure.

A Revolutionary Guards commander in Qazvin province issued a bold challenge to Washington, saying: “We hope America makes a mistake and tests its power on the ground as well. It was defeated at sea and in the air.”

Meanwhile, Bloomberg reports Iran has begun cutting oil production as the US naval blockade — in effect since April 13 — fills storage capacity to its limits. Tankers are now gathering near Kharg Island, Iran’s main export terminal.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned the pressure could cost Tehran roughly $170 million daily in lost revenue. Despite the strain, Iranian officials remain publicly confident. “We have enough expertise and experience,” said one industry spokesman. “We’re not worried.”
