Abu-Bilal al-Minuki dead: US-Nigeria forces take out ISIS second-in-command

US Africa Command, operating alongside Nigerian forces and at President Trump’s direction, has killed Abu-Bilal al-Minuki — the second most senior ISIS leader globally — in a precision strike targeting those responsible for attacks on Nigerian Christians.

US and Nigerian forces have killed Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, the number two leader of ISIS worldwide, in a joint precision operation conducted overnight, the White House announced.

Al-Minuki served as ISIS’s senior General Directorate of Provinces Emir, overseeing attack planning, hostage-taking operations, and financial management for the global terror network. Several other ISIS personnel were also killed in the strike.

The operation followed President Trump’s November 2025 declaration that the US would help protect Christians in Nigeria, after which American forces spent months tracking the target.

US Africa Command oversaw the operation in coordination with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.

The White House said the strike “makes Americans safer by further degrading ISIS’s ability to plan and carry out attacks that threaten the U.S. homeland, American citizens, and innocent civilians.”

Officials added the operation should serve as “a reminder that we will hunt down those who wish to harm Americans or innocent Christians, wherever they are.”
