Iranian-backed proxies may have orchestrated at least two March shooting attacks targeting a consulate and a synagogue in Toronto, according to The Jerusalem Post.
The revelations emerged following Friday’s US Department of Justice arrest of Kataib Hezbollah senior official Mohammad Bagher Saad Dawood al-Saadi. In a criminal complaint, Saadi told an undercover officer that his “people” were behind the Canadian attacks. Authorities believe this includes the March 10 shooting at the US consulate in Toronto and one of three separate shooting attacks on local synagogues that occurred that month.
Saadi, who allegedly directed 20 plots across North America and Europe, faces charges for attacking US interests and plotting to strike three American Jewish sites. Kataib Hezbollah is widely recognized as a proxy of the Iranian regime.
